So this could be a momentous game for a number of reasons. First is that it is likely the last game for Travis Green as head coach of the Canucks. Another reason is a bonus clause in the contract of Nils Hoglander. If he scores today, that gets activated and the amount of the bonus gets tacked on to next year’s cap as an overage. It’s not a huge amount, but with the Canucks and the cap every dollar counts. I don’t begrudge a player getting their bonuses, but this would be a comical kick to the groin of management.
Braden Holtby starts, and it’s nice to see Kole Lind get back in today, along with Will Lockwood, Tyler Graovac, Jack Rathbone and Jalen Chatfield. It is extremely puzzling that we will not see Alex Edler today, and that could mean yesterday was his last game as a Canuck. Going out on an own goal? That’s the Canucks way, I guess?
