Last game we witnessed an improbable comeback from the Nucks. They had a point to prove. And 2 to get.
This game, they could have resumed normal low result hockey against the best team in the North. The best team with not the best goalies anymore.
We wouldn’t have minded taking a loss, we were ready for it at NM.
Instead, we watched Windmill Holtzy out play de-fLamed Rittich.
Even better... this win, for the 2nd game in a row, the Nucks best period was the 3rd.
HIGH HIGH POINTS
The best period for the Nucks was the 3rd. In case you missed it. The 2nd was their 2nd best. And the 1st wasn’t horrible... other than when Myers was captured in a gravity well.
Tyler Myers falls
Leafs score — Westy
Huggie is back. Taking points. And scoring goals. 3 point game. And game’s 1st star.

Another high. 2 goals from Pearson .
Can Toronto find another way to lose?
They let Pearson score — Westy

And scored unassisted on an unsettled Rittich.

They let him score twice
that’s messed up — Westy
Messed up? They let Sutz get 2 goals too! Not making it up.
The new kid Highmore played a good 4th liner debut. Lots of energy and pestiness. Gaud bless him.
Nucks PP went 1 for 2, so that’s good.
THE NOT SO HIGH POINTS
With Eddie out, some wondered who would fumble the Fedling farty potato.
Chatfield
is filling in for Edler — Westy
Which reassured the game thread.
Well here’s hoping
that Baumer pulls out the ass stapler for Chatfield in the 3rd… kid is not having a good game. — Twitchy
Hoping realised. Chatty played just a little over 3 mins in the 3rd.
Rous left the game with a seeming knee injury after accidently colliding with known Laffing bruiser, Mitch Marner. Accidental? Uh-huh. Sure.
Nucks PP allowed a clown shoes shortie against. That’s not so good. Gave up the lead early in the 3rd on their own PP, but didn’t give up on the game. So that’s not so bad.
ALL THE VIDEO YOU CAN EAT
6, count ‘em, 6 Nucks goals!
The 2 Johns are back on the high calorie, low fibre play-by-play. Yay!

At NM we like to make sweeping conclusions. Some claim we’re just a disgruntled group of closet janitors. In the closet they store the rum, perhaps. But, we’re on a streak to destiny.
Yes, it’s a short streak, but beating the most important team in hockey in both games, is an achievement that will give us bragging rights. For days. From a team that was taken off the ice for 3 weeks by a nasty covid variant so nasty we wondered if there was any season left in the season.
Maybe it’s the emotional rush of making a statement - and beating the Leafs, over and over, is one of the best statements you can make in the North. Could be this level of winning all the final periods is/isn’t sustainable.
Such a crazy season in this crazy Covidian era that all we can do is wonder what else is possible.
