RECAP #26: NUCKS WIN Another Loss! Get Jettisoned 5-2

One Game Win Streak Shattered - That Was Quick

What a difference 21 hours make.

A fully rested Nucks team was a good match against an unprepared Jets squad.

A less rested Nucks team against a prepared Jets team... not a good match.

Oh well... getting a split on a B-2-B is the stuff dreams are made of. The dreams of January. When 500 hockey + a little bit of luck was not asking for much.

Now after the one of the worst months of hockey in Nucking hockey history, getting to 500 seems like asking for the sun, moon and cup.

Also... January was the last time the Nucks won more than 1 consecutive game. Since then wins have been spaced out further apart than the Nucks gap control.

THE SEMI-GOOD:

The Prince of Port Alberni didn’t get a 2nd straight shutout against the Nucks. That’s the kind relief that otherwise could have tilted the desert axis of Vancouver Island to align too closely with MacBlo decorated Schmoo tortes.

So thanks to Petey and Millsie, Nucks stopped Brossoit from getting another victory shutout against us.

Millsie gets a goal on the 1st unit PP. That’s great! But...

Pete can score even without the puck.

THE STANDARD FUGLY:

Here’s your recap Jimmy

Goalie Sucked.

Edler Fedled.

Bo was invisible.

Defense is for suckas. — Twitchy

Last night’s game was won and over in the 1st period.

This game was over and lost in the 1st period when the Jets score first.

I wonder if

Shorty is gonna remind us about what happens when we don’t score first? I’ve forgotten. — Twitchy

No need to remind us. There’s ZERO merit in that stat.

Speaking of no merit stats... the incredible season long stat is still standing. Nucks have not won a game, not even one single game, when scoring less than 4 goals. Some streaks the Nucks can extend.

Can’t pushback in the 3rd when trailing. By a single goal. They give up high danger chances, instead of creating high danger chances.

At least we have the 2 Johns to give us a couple good shifts.

We return to the regular depressing presser.

Green is getting frustrated. Pete is muttering. Holeby sounds gutted. Just another game that got away too early and too easy.

Oh well... this Nucks team isn’t built for back to back 60 minute games. 3 or 4 days off between games would give the Nucks a better chance at 500 nirvana.

We return to the game thread for a sobering 2nd (period) thought...

This is the point of the game

where Canuck fans drink more. Those who look back at the last playoffs expect the Canucks to score and get mad when they don’t. Those who use the past 6 seasons as their basis of expectations, feel that the Canucks won’t win this game. — Westy

On that persuasive predictive perdition - we say: Cheers!

Drink it up! A split in the CoTU would probably split the Universe. Just as long we can keep the 500 dream alive, at least to the half way point of the season...
