While we were still hiding under the stairs in the NM Blowout and Rum Recovery Lounge after the Tabernacing the Nucks suffered last game, the CaFlucks were beating that team twice over. Using D-Suttering defence.
Lesson learned? It was for Coach ‘Stingy’ Green. But would the free-wheeling freedom loving team of Nucks buy the Scotch Broth hockey strategy? Would NM?
We like our Scotch - single malt, but our delicate fan palete is broth-adverse. We want to see our depleted team score the first 5 goals of the 1st. We also want free beer, rum and world peace. Our wants are simple.
The good news is the high flying Oil had just beaten the Sens. Repeatedly. Even better it was a 2nd night for them to play. And since the tOilers just beat the worst team in the North, how hard would it be to beat the 2nd worst team in the division?
Harder than it looks.
Not at first, of course. Nucks were running up the SV% for Demmers for the scoreless 1st.
From there, the greasy grit of the depleted roster took over in the 2nd. In the game thread.
And as it turns out, so did the Nucks.
THE BO-NDERFUL
Bo’s line was matched up against the McD/DrySaddle line. And limited them to less than 20 shots each throughout the game.
The Nucks D played their best game so far. Pretty much.
The Nucks Rugby PP team made a rare appearance to scrum up the 1st goal of the game.
wow what was that!
Don’t see that often! Usually they blow the whistle, but they were shouting LOOSE LOOSE LOOSE the whole time.
What a crazy goal. — Raddy
Loose? Crazy?
Not that crazy
Loose, loose, loose is our style of hockey — jimmi
Sadly, while Tippet was whining to the refs... his whine did result in a couple ‘makeup’ calls from the refs for the league’s 2 highest scorers to well... score.
Oh well... doesn’t really matter. Because...
In Demko We Trust — Raddy
Putting forth a big outing after surrendering 5 goals in his last start prior to Saturday night, Thatcher Demko turned back the Oilers' high powered weapons by allowing only 1 goal on 35 SOG in a 2-1 @Canucks win. It enhanced stats here that were already strong since March began pic.twitter.com/mLWbssB5kI

Demmers was epic in the 3rd. Mr. .971SV%. Even Eddie blocked a hot shot rather than Fedle the game away.
Speaking of putting the game away. Who better than Myers.

1st Star of The Game. 1st Star of the Month.
Shout out to Schmmidti - broke up some scary McSaddle 2 on 1s.
Tight, tough, low event hockey. We expect that from Tippet. But a season in Edmonton will wear on any stingy coach. So Green and the Faery-dusted Nucks had no chance in a track meet. So they chose the tight checking style.
Good choice.
Spectacular choice. In a (not) low (enough) event unspectacular way.
Tough gritty win. And we needed it. So did the Nucks.
No passengers. Jake played a good game. Even Loui played well. Sure, there were a few Fedlers, but there’s a league quota to meet.
HIGHLIGHTS
It’s HNIC on a Saturday. But past bedtime in the CoTU, so we get 1 John to make the colour commentary bright.

Good team win. Gutsy even.
5 wins in 7 games!!
Is anybody coming back from injury? These guys are down to their last man, and I don’t think they can hold it much longer. — Atty
But hold it they must. At least they can hold it over the team that was beaten (repeatedly) by the team the Nucks just beat. Can’t beat that.
Sure hope not. I know... mixing the term ‘hope’ with Nucks hockey violates NM protocol. But tonight the Nucks violated the free-wheeling dogma and gutted out a win. Anything is possible. At least we hope it is.
