After getting Lemarie’d by the Jets last game, we didn’t expect to get Torts-alized. If only Torts had kept and played Dubois, I might have had a better recap to write.
Instead, I have to write another recap about how happy we are to salvage a single point after leading 2-zip after the 1st.
We’re not that happy. Could have been worse. But I can’t think about that just now.
I asked, nay, implored the NHL to call the game after the first. The NHL doesn’t listen to me or my implorables.
But first... a message from our pretend sponsor... to match our pretend laughter that kept us in stitches getting 1 of 4 points in 2 games.

THE GOODISH:
Zack attack is back. Hand over fist.
Sparked the team. And the game thread.

Postal Petey ran up his count, but changed it up with a broken used Eddie stick and breaking Helly’s face before breaking the leading Nucks scoring race.

That was the 1st Nucks PP goal on the Jets this season. Yay... sort of.
THE FUGLY:
Miller likes to see Holtby suffer. 2 goals can be put on Miller not finishing a check behind the net and not blocking the shot on the PP on a shot that Holtby woulda/coulda/shoulda had. Miller was good in the 1st... but as the game wore on so did the lapses, miscues and low percentage plays.
Also... Hotlz looked weak on the Scheifele shot that leaked through. Nate tried to help him out... but you know...
Also a few Fedlers™ just to keep game thread Observe and Report status at the top of the observatory.

the second Fedler™ of the game by edler that leads to an odd man rush. — Twitchy
Nucks have more penalty minutes than any other team in the league. And their PK is rated 10th. You do the math - but it’s not a good ratio. 58 minors by the Nucking forwards. Too many lazy stick plays.
Giving up the lead. Nucks haven’t won when scoring less than 4 goals. Haven’t won when giving up the lead. Haven’t won when they had a winnable game in hand.
Good Nucks puck luck only lasts a period. Lotto line got burnt on a couple burning turnovers.
6-minute Jake needs to spend 60 minutes in the popcorn office. Zack also had 6 minutes and Beags was under 10 minutes. Nucks couldn’t win as a 4 line team. Not looking too good as a 3 line team.
PP scored, finally. But still needs more shots and less outside passing. Or just better execution. Or better strategy. Or both.
Could be effective if Brock was in the Ovie spot as well as Pete in the Petey spot and Huggie dishing to the open one. But, I’m not Noel Brown, who seems content with coaching the 20th ranked PP in the league.
HIGHLIGHTS: (Yes, there were a couple)
At least the 2 Johns can keep us happy through 3 2 1 period.

There’s lots to talk about in this nearly won, but certainly lost game. I’m tired of talking about nearly things. How tired of talking about it is the team and Green?
Post-game availability expected to include Sutter, Pettersson & Holtby, followed by Coach Green.#Canucks | @TheProvince https://t.co/pCIbaKlgy1

With this not-quite-win the Nucks can take solace that they don’t need to face another Northern team that is playing better than the Nucks.
If the Sens can beat the Habs, Nucks can beat McD and the tOil. Simple hockey logic.
If only this season was simple for the Nucks, making simple winning plays in all periods. It’s not that simple. Nothing is simple in the flat cap pandemic NHL.
Cap-strapped Nucks can’t afford to hire outside their bubble for consistent assistance. Can’t even afford NM couch coaching with the rising cost of rummery maintenance.
No, the Nucks have to take their 2 wins in 7 games and look at themselves, find something extra in themselves and string together another 1 game win streak.
