RECAP #19: NUCKS WIN! Loser Point. Drop Game 4-3

Nucks found a way to lose the game - twice over

Even periods are not our friends. Nucks win the 1st. Pretty much. Soft 2 turnover 2nd. Tough 3rd with a tie on top. Terrible 4th period.

The Nucks had the lead - scored the first 2 goals of the 1st. Until the Jake mistake.

Then the 2nd period unravelled. In ways that only soft turnovers can spoil the game thread special Monday alcohol diet.

THE PRETTY GOOD:

Good lead in the 1st. Bo gotta goal.

Good pushback in the 3rd. Brockstar gets the tieing goal.

Pepper Pot is unstoppable. Led the team with 5 shots on goal. Needs to be rewarded with a potful of goals. A hot pot of shot accuracy would make a more tasty tally tot.

Nucks get a loser point. Something to cheer about. Softly. While whimpering into the sofa cushions over what might have been.

THE CLOWNISH & THE FUGLY:

Bo cost a goal with a soft passta turnover in the O-zone. In the 2nd period. Of course.

Nate gets another own goal. In the 2nd. 2nd big fluffy of the season. Biggest fluff so far. He felt awful. We felt awful. Demmers felt worse. Because technically he pushed the puck over his own goal line.

Bad puck management. Nucks have the ability to out skate and out play the CaFlucks, but at the worst possible times, chose not to. Just because they won 1 game out of 7, doesn’t mean they can take a shift off.

Miller is still forcing plays that are not there. When he plays smart and hard, he’s a force. When he tries to play reckless smartypants hockey makes it to hard to keep our pants unsoiled.

This game was witness to the 76th time Nucks PK went to work. Nucks lead the league with the most time in the Myers’ summer retreat.

The Nucks PP did get 2 goals on the PP. But on 4 of the 6 extra man chances they had... well.. getting into the zone was a zone too far.

Maybe the 2 Johns make winning a loser point better than it is...

What can we say about this game that got away?

Hunh — Chicky

Maybe the players and coach can explain it better. Maybe.

To be fair, for a Monday Night Nucks game, we’ve seen worse.

Also to be more fair, we are really tired of being fair with the 1 win in 8 games record still so freshly seared in our scarred Nucking minds.

Hopefully we can stay in our minds when the portable bubble floats over the Rockies to the red zone on Wednesday. Hear it’s so nice there this time of year.

We can stay hopeful. For another 10 minutes. Maybe the Nucks can play hard, fast and smart for 60 minutes. Could happen.

In case it does or doesn’t, we can take solace in the middle way. Whatever that is.
