RECAP #18: NUCKS WIN!!! (No, Really) Drop the Flamucks 3-1

Losing Streak Stopped at 6 - Just in time for Valentine’s - Massacre Averted

What a difference a game makes. String a streak of these different games and maybe we can stop drinking the hair dye and start looking younger again.

And skating taller.

THE GREAT:

How sweet it is that real tall Tyler beat Mercenary Marky for the GWG. Played a much better game after getting benched last recap. Only jumped up when a real chance was on offer.

Even better, with Mercenary Marky behind them, the CalFlucks were playing like the 2019 Canucks. Cowtown Red Nucks were outshot 20-4 in the 1st and 46-19 in the game. Marky McSoftie didn’t show up tho.... otherwise it would have been a 12-1 Nucks win.

The Nucks as a team had buy-in - they played a... I know... it’s going to sound weird... they played a structured defensive game. No really. Even made a HNIC x’s and oh’s segment. Almost every shift they played like a 5 man unit and made it tough on the FlaNucks to get through the neutral zone. Who knew hockey is a team game?

Huggie broke the Nucks 1st goal of the game drought. In Quinning style.

Mercenary Marky was broken after that goal. However, his $36M deal protected him from any ill-effects. Yet, time is on our side. Going to be fun to play against him in a few years. But we’re not there yet.

How bad was it for Marky? Even Sutter beat him when Marky got caught on the CalFluck bench counting his millions. Also... Loui got his 1st point of the season on that EN.

Pepper Pot was popping the post like a only real Nucks player can. He’s playing on the 2nd line like he belongs there. And does he ever.

Juolevi played possibly his best game of the season. Looked solid and more confident.

THE NOT SO GREAT:

Casual Miller is still making blind passes up the middle in his own zone - got burned and burned Demko’s sure thing shutout that lasted the full 30 minutes.

Bo still needs his BoJo back. Nucks need the 2nd line to get as hot as a Hot Pepper Pot.

There was some other stuff... but will save the little details for Kent and the other unpaid Nucks assistant coaches to x and moan about it.

It’s a win. It’s HNIC, who can’t spoil the highlights. Too much.

What a relief. Not just for NM - for the Nucks too. Finally we get to hear a presser without the depresser section.

The Nucks stopped the L-streak at 6. Franny stopped the #ThankYouJim streak at 2.

If there is a MUST WIN game it was a week ago. Or the game before the game before.

This game was the next level above MUST WIN. DEFCON 99. The Vancouver hockey media were ready to launch the nukes of super-tweetened outrage. NM had already launched our arsenal of radioactive rum bombs, but sadly went off target and were consumed in a drunken surge in the NM lounge.

It’s just a single game. A single win. But, it’s better to win and have Marky lose than the alternative.

The Nucks wore work boots to the rink. And work skates in the game. The new workman look looks good on the Nucks. So does the win.
