RECAP #17: Nucks LOSE! Positively Beaten by the Red Flamucks 3-1

The Canucks are a better team than they appear. They’re no longer a bottom-feeder team. Five decades past the expansion era Nucks.

And yet... the play of the Nucks is in the twilight zone of under achieving. Who knew there was twilight in the slacker realm. Thought it was a dark moonless night every day.

Doesn’t matter.

At least we got to watch the Hot Pepper Pot show the rest of the team what it takes to play like you care about battling for every millimetre.

And Dekey Pete turning Lurch into a pylon and the banked pass to Brock for the sole Nucks goal.

THE FUGLY:

Bad Nuck Luck Nate on his fancy deflection on the PK. Bad luck or bad angle on his stick in front of his own net. Nate is a better player than we saw tonight. Like many other top Nucks.

Play 60 minutes. 3 Full periods. Nucks played pretty good for 2 periods, but that 3rd Flamucks goal early in the 3rd on the Myers defensive gaff let all the gas out of the team.

Bench Myers. He’s a defenceman, allegedly. Keeps making coverage mistakes because he wants to score, rather than defend against stuff like... breakaways.

That will be the new coach’s job though.

Bench Bo, Miller, Rous, Eddie, Benn too. Let Huggie and Pepper Pot play the full 60 minutes. But that will be the new GM’s pick for his new coach’s choice.

Mercenary Marky wasn’t tested near enough - and hardly at all in the 3rd. Also... he’s a total traitor. We put up with McSofties for years and to repay our loyalty he’s playing like a 6’6” goalie FFS!

There’s so many things that have gone wrong this early in the season - looks like it’s on the players. But who assembled this team of players? Benning is on the firing range. So is Green.

Those firings won’t help this season. Or next.

We had hoped after the summer bubble the new look Nucks would build on that first playoff appearance in five years. Now it looks like we could wait another 3-5 years before Nucks are a playoff-bound team.

Oh well... maybe we can get another Hughes.

The new look Nucks look terrible - worst defensive team assembled since the last worst defensive team.

Want to finish up this recap on a positive note, but I’ve contracted a case of Nucks mental fragility.

Two thirds of a recap ought to be good enough for this 6 game L-streak team. Need 2 more straight losses to match the Legendary Straight 8 of November ‘18.
