Gamethread #7: Canucks vs Wild

First home game of the year for the Canucks!

NHL: Minnesota Wild at Vancouver Canucks Bob Frid-USA TODAY Sports

The last time these teams met they were shaking hands in the bubble as the Canucks beat the Wild in the play-in round of 2019-20. Fast forward to today and the Wild are a team that enjoyed the playoffs last year for a brief spell, while the Canucks did not. The Wild are off to a 4-1 start, while the Canucks are not. The Wild have a team that is solid through 3 lines and has a steady defense core with a real goalie...unlike the play-in bubble year.

The Canucks are coming off a 6 game road trip with some success and yet still some very serious questions like:

  1. Where is Petey? Like I know he is on the ice, but he hasn’t found “it” yet.
  2. Can the Canucks beat a better team? Let’s face it, the win they have were against bottom feeders.
  3. Is beer too expensive?

I await the first person to say I am wrong, but the Canucks were again outplayed for a large portion of the last game and Demko saved their ass. I’m sure he would like at least one game where he can breathe easier facing shots in the 3rd period.

Maybe tonight can be that night. Maybe the Canucks can find that play-in magic against the team they beat. I guess this is why they play the games.
