It’s official. The Vancouver Canucks have agreed to terms with their two RFA’s Elias Pettersson and Quinn Hughes.
Pettersson: 3x$7.35M. Hughes 6x$7.85M

Not gonna lie here, the fact that Benning was able to get both of these deals done south of $8 Million per year is pretty damn awesome. Yes, they are the two highest AAV deals in club history, and the pressure will be on both players to prove their worth, but this franchise hasn’t had players worthy of this kind of money since the Sedins were in their heyday.
I mean, sure it’s going to cost a TONNE to re-ink Pettersson at the end of this deal, but the Canucks should hopefully be in a far better cap situation at that point than the one they’re in now that led to this being so damn difficult. There’s still the possibility that there are more moves coming, especially with this concerning the status of Travis Hamonic:

Whether he steps away, or the Canucks decide to trade him away, that could provide enough relief to maybe pick up another defenceman and solidify a back end that still isn’t as good as it’s going to need to be for the Canucks to be successful. In the meantime though, we need to prepare ourselves for the Canucks to really take a step forward as an offensive juggernaut this season.
