Canucks News
- While it’s not official, Canucks fans finally have the news they’ve been waiting for. Elias Pettersson and Quinn Hughes appear to have extensions in place. EP looks like he has a three-year deal:
Petersson could be 3 times 7.7M

- And Hughes seems to have landed a six-year contract:
Hughes could be 6x7.75

- Here’s a look at how such a contract looks from an analytical standpoint for Pettersson:
Elias Pettersson, reportedly signed 3x$~8M by VAN, is one of the best centres in hockey, a creative playmaker and efficient sniper who can pick corners from a distance and drives play at both ends of the ice. #Canucks pic.twitter.com/EiARD9VPMd

- And a similar look for Hughes:
Quinn Hughes, reportedly signed 6x$7.75M by VAN, is a talented puck-moving offensive defenceman who suffered through a pretty tough sophomore slump after an elite rookie season. Might not be a better passing blueliner in the league but struggles defensively. #Canucks pic.twitter.com/CbjjORgayy

- While the Petey and Hughes news was the big talk of the day, there are still some questions around defender Travis Hamonic. It appears that his absence is vaccine-related and it could have major ramifications on the team’s blue line. Elliotte Friedman had a small update:
Elliotte on Hamonic: There's a lot of people who are not sure what he's going to do.

Hamonic's preference is to try for a trade but a lot of teams don't want a unvaccinated player.
- And some statements from owner Francesco Aquillini on the Canucks’ actions for the first National Day for Truth and Reconciliation:
Growing up in East Van, I had Indigenous friends and teammates. I didn't understand why there was so much pain and dysfunction in some of the families. Now I understand better. Canucks and Aquilini offices are closed today. pic.twitter.com/5qb5qPJVZE

Honoured to have Musqueam Chief Wayne Sparrow in the dressing room to talk to Canucks players about truth and reconciliation. pic.twitter.com/4XmkLovZra
