Gamethread #7: Canucks vs Canadiens

Third game in a row versus the Habs. Some pride needs to be restored.

I don’t want to “that” guy all year, but games like Thursday are going to happen this year. The amount of blame to share is limitless. The tendency of Twitter and some media members is to blame an individual or two for a team loss. “If they hadn’t done this, or if this player had played ‘better’....” is the starting point for a lot of articles. And while there are some players that do stand out, the whole team was bad last game. Even Bo.

Today’s game is important for a couple of reasons. One, the Canucks need to play better for themselves. Less penalties, better neutral zone playing and transition breakouts. Defensive coverage by the forwards absolutely has to be better to help this mish-mash defense. Two, the Canucks are only 4 points away from first place Montreal. This division is wide open, as no team is “hot” yet. Thirdly, the Canucks go on a nine game road trip after this game. A win at home before this trip, hopefully would get them some momentum.

I don’t blame you for watching this game with your hands in front of your face, squinting at the screen through your fingers, as you wait for it to go all to hell again. Just as long as you’re watching and yelling.

Go Canucks Go!
