Wake With Elias- June 29. 2020: Hub Cities Could Be Announced Today (Maybe... Maybe Not)

New, comments

There’s rumblings we might finally know where the NHL thinks they’re going to be able to hold playoff games.

Minnesota Wild v Vancouver Canucks

If this happens, expect it to be Vegas and Toronto. With Vancouver officially out of the process, and Edmonton being thoroughly disliked by the players (lol), these two cities appear to be the ones. The upswing in reported infections that Nevada has seen is worrisome, though it seems they think that it’s one of the best places to have a bubble that they can isolate players in:

Meanwhile, the league and the NHLPA are getting closer on a new labour agreement, which is good news for those of us dreading another lockout by the owners. There’s still a ways to go, and we’re not so naive to think this couldn’t get messed up along the way, but it’s encouraging to have positive news here for a change after the garbage we’ve been forced to endure the last couple decades. They’re also continuing work on the details of Phases 3 and 4 of the plan to return to play, but the window on that is approaching, so for those of you who think this is a good idea, there appears to be some progress. Once again though, if the players can’t come to an agreement on safety through this process (which really is the key point in all this), it’s all for naught.

Meanwhile, if they do manage to pull this off, the play by play teams, like most of the other sports we’ve seen return so far, will do their jobs remotely:

And if this does happen, this needs to happen. It seems like it was meant to be (and yes, this means making a white version too, dammit!)

Congrats to the Cap and wife Holly on the newest addition to Canuck Nation!
