- There has been news trickling out for a while, but Vancouver is officially OUT as a hub city for the NHL play in series. The Canucks released their official statement on Twitter yesterday:

B.C. Premier John Horgan also released a statement:
I'm disappointed the NHL playoffs won't be coming to Vancouver, but we will not bend the rules on public health guidelines and risk the progress we've made. Protecting the health and safety of people in BC is our number one priority.

Wherever they hit the ice, go #Canucks! https://t.co/ud6zUAd9L4
Judging by the Twitter response, most Canucks fan seem pleased with decision. And for good reason. The benefits of being a hub city appear to be marginal, and why take a risk when the province is doing so well? Thomas Drance has some specifics on the issues involved:
This seems dramatic, but I'm hearing that the disagreement *was* narrow.

Key question was how would "close contacts" be treated in the event that a positive test arose in the bubble. Could close contact continue to play without isolating? B.C. health officials were hesitant. https://t.co/NflGrIzop2
And some comments from everyone’s favorite public health official, Dr. Bonnie Henry:
