GAME DAY PREVIEW- Game 66: Canucks vs Arizona

New, comments

A disastrous road trip to say the least, as the Canucks limped home with just 2 of a possible 8 points. Sure, it’s great to be home, but more injuries could spell trouble as they host the Coyotes tonight.

Arizona Coyotes v Vancouver Canucks

Nucks Misconduct would like to express our condolences to our friends over at On The Forecheck and everyone in Nashville affected by the devastating tornadoes that hit the area earlier this week. We’ve shared a post from them to let you know how you can help out with the relief efforts, and if you can do so, please help!

OPPOSITION BLOG: FIVE FOR HOWLING

It was probably a far more shocking collapse than the ones we saw against the Washington Capitals or Pittsburgh Penguins earlier in the season. And the way the Canucks turned a 3-1 3rd period lead into a 5-3 loss should have everyone concerned about this team’s ability to hang on in the Western Conference playoff race.

And thanks to that dumpster fire of a road trip, tonight’s game and every one remaining becomes even more important, as the Canucks cannot continue losing and still stay above the line in the playoff race. Oh, and they could be without Quinn Hughes, Tyler Myers and Jay Beagle tonight.

This is... not optimal.

The Coyotes are just two points back, though the Canucks have two games in hand at the moment. Worst case scenario is this: the Canucks lose in regulation tonight, then Minnesota wins tomorrow. A Canucks loss to Colorado on Friday combined with a Coyotes win in Calgary and they’re on the outside looking in on Saturday morning. It’s that close, so they need to start winning in regulation the rest of the way, or they’re gonna get overtaken.

LINEUPS:

And this is the lineup the Coyotes iced in their last game, a win Saturday night over the Buffalo Sabres:

We’ll update these after the morning skate, and know more about who will be ready to go and whether we’ll see Guillaume Brisebois and Jalen Chatfield in the lineup tonight.
