Hello, friends. Hope your Thursday is going well. We’re going to try and keep you up to date as always, and give you a place to hang out (because working from home doesn’t mean you don’t need distractions).
You might have seen yesterday that some companies are starting to repurpose their manufacturing facilities to produce much needed medical supplies. Bauer, makers of skates, helmets and other hockey gear is one of them.

Right now, we're all on the same team. We're repurposing our facilities to make face shields so that medical professionals battling COVID-19 can safely continue to help those most vulnerable. pic.twitter.com/pBiZuUWdVl
The NHL’s chief medical officer provided an update today:
And yesterday, it announced the postponement of the 2020 Entry Draft, Scouting Combine and Awards:

And with the postponement comes the possibility that they will have to conduct the draft via phone. Last time that happened, the Sabres did this:
The NHL Draft is postponed and it’s conceivable that the NHL may have to conduct it by phone. That was done at least once before - in 1974, the year the Buffalo Sabres pulled the best prank in NHL history.— TSN (@TSN_Sports) March 26, 2020

Meanwhile, another big sporting event is being altered:

This was an interesting reminder of what the Canucks were up against in their battle to make it to the playoffs for the first time in 5 seasons:

Just think of all the injuries avoided!
The Province took a look at the economic toll this could all have on teams and even leagues as things continue in shutdown:

And finally, while technically this IS social distancing, don’t do this:
