OPPOSITION BLOG: STANLEY CUP OF CHOWDER
They’re so easy to hate, aren’t they? Sure, part of it is jealousy of their success. But the true hatred comes from the hubris that follows them like a dust storm. They’re dirty, and they never, ever truly atone for what they do. And it’s not just the Matt Grzelcyk goon job on Elias Pettersson. It’s not even Johnny Boychuck breaking Mason Raymond’s back. This crap goes back decades. Yesterday was 20 years since this bullshit went down:
That may be the last time a Bruin actually got what they deserved in terms of punishment. Now, we see the odd laughable suspension or embarrassing fines and silence from the Department of “Player Safety” every time a Boston player crosses the line. So like I said, it’s easy to hate them.
Forget about all that.
Tonight, the two points they can get by beating these bastards means far more than any type of payback, and the Canucks have to have this mindset. So forget that snivelling lil ratbastard Marchand, forget Grzelcyk and any other B’s player. Just win, baby.
NUCKS: Only change from last game is Fantenberg subs for Benn.
THAT TEAM: We don’t care which douches they deploy.
GAME DAY CHATTER:
Still some Stetch trade banter... but he’s in the lineup, so probably trading Benn for
This time of year, it’s all dirty areas all the time. Ask the refs... oh... wait...
“We need to get to the dirty areas, the Bruins are good at taking away time and space.” - Horvat— Vancouver #Canucks (@Canucks) February 22, 2020
“I feel good, I’ve been practicing hard and I’m ready to go. I’m ready to play whenever called upon. Injuries are part of the game, but I want to be helping the team, not on my couch watching.” - @OscarFantenberg— Vancouver #Canucks (@Canucks) February 20, 2020
NM game thread wants to help too. But we help best when screaming from our couches.
GAME DAY BATTLE HYMN:
Because I’m in a bad mood, we’re playing that team and Kent was sent away to a work camp, possibly to work, I have to pick the hymnal and when it comes to the Church of Metal, I’m a heretic. Also... the last time I picked a bad metal tune we lost. Badly.
With those caveats out of the way, we’re off to a previous century to bask in the bad hair and lame theatrics of German sensation, VAMYR.
