Are you sick of the Elias Pettersson abuse? How about the word “underrated?”
No matter which side of the ledger you’re on, listen in to our latest episode of Silky N’ Filthy so that you can battle with our takes on both issues.
I recorded an episode of The Quickie (find it below this article if you haven’t checked it out already) on the crazy amount of penalties that players were committing on Pettersson that haven’t been called.
In fairness, we need to step outside of our Canucks-centric bubble and see the bigger picture. This kind of abuse is happening to stars around the NHL. Just watch an Edmonton Oilers or Colorado Avalanche game, and you’ll see the same thing happening to Connor McDavid and Nathan MacKinnon.
So, why aren’t the refs calling penalties? Is it because they’re afraid of affecting the flow of the game?
Regardless of the answer, we advocate for 60 minutes of power play time on the show, if that’s what it takes, for the refs to call the game properly.
