With ice time worries now behind him, Vasily Podkolzin was named the KHL’s Rookie of the Week. He scored two goals and added one assist for three points in three games to earn the honour.
This morning he started the defence of his title.
First, he took care of extending his KHL point streak to four games with a secondary assist after his interception of an opposition pass in the offensive zone.
Then he was challenged to a duel by a Prince. He accepted the challenge.
The 18 year old then slayed 27 year old ex-NHL player Shane Prince in his first KHL fight.
He then finished leading his SKA club to a 5-0 victory over Dinamo Minsk.
