Vancouver Canucks 2018-19 Season Review: Brock Boeser

The Flow Goes... Unsigned

Had hoped this retrospective flow show would have been posted after Brock’s shiny new contract. Not to be.

Turns out, like many some one hot hockey tropics insider suspected, that Nucks management, players and their agents check in first with the NM braintrust before making the stupid moves.

Makes this particular player review more tricky. Who wants to look back, when we all want is to look forward. To September 15th to find out if there is anything to look forward to.

Brock’s stats last year were amazing. Just ask Ben. Brock shot and clocked over 100 goals! Pretty amazing. Just ask Ben. Equally un-amazing that many of those goals didn’t count in the official NHL scorecard. Seems all those wicked goals in practice don’t count. It’s not fair.

Just ask Ben Hankinson, Brock’s agent. Which is what JB has been doing in the last year month week. Who was asking who to be more than fair, it’s not fair to say.

Benning said. “We want to figure out something that’s fair for the team here moving forward with all these good young players we have, and that’s fair to the player. We are just trying to find that common ground, and when we get to that common ground we’ll get a deal done.”

Common ground? That’s like common sense - not as common as commonly assumed.

No matter. We push on, past the future to the past.

All Brock’s Goals from 2018-2019 (or some of them)

Also... see if you can pick out my fav Brock goal...

That Brocket shot must be worth at least $4M/yr on a paper bridge. Or more? Much, much more.

Ok, I admit it. When Brock got a hattie against the worst team in the West, was pretty sure the Blues would finish as poorly as they started. A reminder - don’t ask me to join your Cup pool with the hope of spiffy clairvoyance.

If there’s one flaw with the Flow it’s that the Faeries seem to have a hankering for some Brock time. (Who doesn’t?) Last season he played over a dozen games for the Faerian Farm team. Better than the 17-18 season, so there’s that.

Assuming Brock keeps improving his game away from the puck, the Faeries and his scoring laser shot gets more laserized, it’s not unreasonable to expect him to pot 35 (or 100) goals this season.

And that has got to be worth something. Worth more than LittleThing’s $6M for 6 deal? While it would mute some NM game thread chatter/whining/wincing - wouldn’t it be nice if some other Nucks forward was the highest paid forward on the team?

So...because Ben and JB can’t get to the grounds of the common without our help. Let’s help!

The best way that NM can help break some common ground is... an internet poll!

NOTE: Signing bonuses add some certainty in these uncertain times - as well as some nice dosh - for the players and more importantly, for Ben.

Thank you for pushing up the common ground into a pile that even JB can see from the tunnel vision of Canucks Central Contract Command.

Also... if this poll seemed as last minute as the negotiations, please pitch your deal in the comments. Just remember to use the agentarial/managerial languaging like escrow, prorated-after-tax-before-skating, income rollback escalator cap adjustment periodicity breakdown full demurrer malfeasance assurance.

Oh right, this is all about last season’s Brock. I liked him. He was great with Pete and great with kids. And the Flow... who doesn’t love the Flow?

Let’s hope the Flow keeps flowing in the Nucks younger faster hard-to-play-against gale-force hockey storm. And within 24 to 4200 hours of this post getting posted, Brock has a contract he deserves and we all approve of.

Hey... it’s the pre-season - anything is possible with... Your Vancouver Canucks: 2019-2020 Western Conference Champs. Or more? The Flow knows.
