How would you feel if the Canucks don't bring in any outside free agents?

What if the organization doesn't think the time is right to make a FA splash

Moving toward the start of NHL free agency many Canuck fans have debated and dreamt of which free agents they want the team to bring in. With money to spend and holes to fill the Canucks are in a position where they can make competitive offers to whichever name they want. But what if those names aren't interested in Vancouver? What if the price tag of mid-tier players becomes so high that they would affect the ability to re-sign an Elias Pettersson?

It’s July 1st and Artemi Panarin and Erik Karlsson have signed too other organizations. Tyler Myers and Jake Gardiner have re-upped with Buffalo and Toronto respectively and other high-profile free agents are either too old or don't fit the Canucks future plans.

For the first time in a long time the Canucks don't bring-in any new faces. Instead they roll out a virtually similar line-up that ended the year in Vancouver in 2018-19.

How would this make you feel? Would you go on twitter and call for Jim Benning to lose his job? Or would you be happy the Canucks are sticking to building through the draft?

Maybe with a better string of health, and with the youngsters taking another step the club can improve in the standings. However, Bo Horvat would still be looking for wingers, the defence would still need a face-lift, and the second unit power play would still be in shambles.

With a number of UFA’s themselves in 2020 the Canucks will again sit around $30 million in cap space heading into that year’s free agent class. Would it make more sense for the Canucks to save their cash for a guy like Taylor Hall, Alex Pietrangelo, hometown boy Tyson Barrie, or Alex Galchenyuk?

The Canucks are slowly entering the upswing of their rebuild and need to wait on the right time to pull the trigger on a big-time free agent. Doing it to soon could waste cap space needed to re-sign their own but bringing in someone too late could mean the teams Stanley Cup window is short.
