Can Columbus come through on John Tortorella’s promise? Is this the end of the road for the Avalanche as they try to force a Game Seven? All will be revealed tonight in Stanley Cup Playoff action.

It’s the potentially the last double header of the playoffs tonight pending the outcomes of these games, so you better enjoy it. Let’s take a look at what to expect in a pair of Game 6 battles this evening:

COLUMBUS BLUE JACKETS VS BOSTON BRUINS- 7:00PM EDT/4:00PM PDT- (Bruins lead 3-2)

Last year, the Columbus Blue Jackets were facing the Washington Capitals in the First Round and after a Game Five loss, head coach John Tortorella predicted that they would be back in Washington for Game Seven. They were not. So, some have chuckled at the thought of Torts pulling out his crystal ball yet again. I mean, what’s he supposed to say in this situation? Of course he’s gonna say this. This is a much better Columbus team than last year, and if they can shake off a tough loss in a Game where they damn near got it to OT, they should be in Boston Wednesday night.

It’s not likely we see changes in either teams lineups tonight, but keep an eye on the way Tortorella shortens his bench during the course of the game and for the Bruins to try and use some line matching to try and take advantage of tired Blue Jackets defencemen.

COLORADO AVALANCHE VS SAN JOSE SHARKS- 10:00PM EDT/7:00OM PDT- (San Jose leads 3-2)

The Avalanche are facing elimination at home tonight as well, and while we haven’t seen a Tortorella-like prediction from Jared Bednar, there’s no panic from his squad heading into tonight. It’s been a truly back and forth series, and it feels like we’re due for another one of those monster games from Nathan MacKinnon, doesn’t it? The key for Colorado is getting to Martin Jones early and often. The longer they allow San Jose to keep things close, the more it works in the Sharks favour. For San Jose, it’s all about utilizing the weapons at their disposal. They have 4 lines that can do damage not to mention some pretty talented defencemen. If Jones can hold the fort tonight they should be through to the next round.

By the way, if you haven’t seen the final episode of Law & Order: SBNation it came out last night. The Case of Colorado vs San Jose is the best one yet (if we may be so bold) so you are gonna wanna check it out prior to the game (and have a look at all 4 episodes, dammit)!

GAME DAY BATTLE HYMN

Hardcore legends with a cover of an Ozzy Osbourne classic? Oh, hell yeah! INTEGRITY with a kickass cover of ‘Bark At The Moon’ for ya tonight. Enjoy the games, everyone!
