Gamethread #72: Canucks vs Stars

New, comments

Canucks look to shoot out some Stars.

NHL: Vancouver Canucks at Dallas Stars Jerome Miron-USA TODAY Sports

Remember when Dallas CEO Jim Lites ripped into his team in December and said his star players had to be better? He was right. People didn’t like that he went public with that, but it seemed to have had some effect on the Stars since then. The Stars were only point ahead of the Canucks at the time and in 10th place in the conference. Today the Stars sit in the 7th playoff spot and are 11 points ahead of the Canucks.

Of course if I am the glass half-full type of guy I would point out that the Stars have Benn and Seguin and the Canucks are only 11 points behind them. Something must be really wrong in Dallas.

We kind of know that something is wrong in Vancouver and it starts with defense and ends with men. The Canucks defense got another addition yesterday with the signing of Jett Woo to an entry level contract. That is three defensive signings in one week for the team. I hope one of them can score in a shoot out. Canucks losing to the Devils in an 80 round shootout after blowing a 2 goal lead in the third is.....not surprising. The good news is that the Canucks have won the last two games they have played in Dallas, so good things come in threes.
