Last night of the California road swing and it’s already been an eventful day. It started off with the Canucks making a trade, sending Sam Gagner (who had been in the AHL, loaned to the Toronto Marlies) to the Edmonton Oilers for Ryan Spooner. The trade clears about 50K of cap space for the Canucks (thanks to about a 1⁄4 of Spooner’s contract being retained by the New York Rangers) and they get a guy who could conceivably slot in as a replacement for Jake Virtanen. And when I say replacement, it’s because the Canucks today moved Virtanen to the IR. I will give you a moment so that you may curse out the Department of Player Safety and Ryan Getzlaf.
All good?
Let’s just take a look at that updated IR list, hmm?

And I am sure you’ll need another moment, so we’ll wait...
Now, where were we? Oh, yes. The San Jose Sharks. In a perfect world, the Vancouver Canucks would come out tonight and lay a righteous beating on the Sharks for being so thoroughly embarrassed at home when these teams met on Monday night. Alas, this is not a perfect world, and as such, you should prepare to see our boys in White, Blue and Green get their asses handed to them. Again.
From tsn.ca here’s the possible lineups for tonight:
POSSIBLE CANUCKS LINE-UP
Roussel-Horvat-Goldobin
Leivo-Pettersson-Boeser
Granlund-Gaudette-Motte
Eriksson-Beagle-MacEwen
Hutton-Stecher
Brisebois-Gudbranson
Pouliot-Biega
Markstrom
POSSIBLE SHARKS LINE-UP
Meier-Couture-Pavelski
Kane-Hertl-Donskoi
Sorensen-Thornton-Labanc
Gambrell-Goodrow-M. Karlsson
Simek-Burns
Vlassic-Karlsson
Dillon-Braun
Jones
As the above article mentions, Spooner will be joining up with the team after they return home from San Jose, and the Canucks will have 4 days off before a big home game Thursday night against the Arizona Coyotes.
