Canucks continue their roadtrip sans Petey.

NHL: Vancouver Canucks at Toronto Maple Leafs John E. Sokolowski-USA TODAY Sports

Oh what could have been....

Alas no Petey tonight as Canucks world awaits the results of the MRI.

The Maple Leafs have all their pieces back for the new year. Matthews and Nylander are actually taking a back seat to Marnier this year. Tavares actually has 26 goals this year. Frederik Andersen is having another solid year. Morgan Reilly has 44 points this year and that’s one point less than the top 3 Canucks defensemen.

Even after writing all that, I know the Leafs won’t win the Cup this year. It’s a given. Their defense is suspect and Andersen’s average performance won’t be enough.

Wouldn’t it be nice to beat them today?!

To jinx them even more, the Leafs are only 6 points away from being out of the playoffs.

The Canucks need to find a way to score without Petey. Boeser....Horvat....Jake all need to step up their game today. I know that sounds obvious, but it seems that I see more fire from Roussel and Beagle than the guys who are supposed to be scoring. It would be great if Leivo went off for 5 goals tonight and waved to Babcock. Demko is on the bench tonight and I can’t wait until the Leafs score and Twitter starts calling for him to play.

Enjoy this game as the Canucks don’t have too many more in January, as the rest of the league gets to catch up in games played this month.
