The Utica Comets head into tonight’s game once again facing elimination, but now have something to build on thanks to some names that have been leading the way all season long. Reid Boucher, Cole Cassels, Nikolai Goldobin and Thatcher Demko all played prominent roles in the 5-2 win on Wednesday night, and the Comets will need them, especially Demko to come up big again.

One thing that’s good about this is the playoff experience that Demko is getting will serve him well as he aims to crack the Canucks lineup next season. The Canucks are taking their time with the goaltending prospect, much like they did with Cory Schneider and hoping that it pays off down the road. This series has been one for the home teams thus far, and fairly even despite the Marlies lead, as they hold a slim 10-9 advantage in goals scored.

The Comets are 4-2 lifetime in elimination games, while the Marlies are 9-4 with a chance to win the series. Here’s hoping that it’s 9-5 and this series heads back to Toronto on Sunday. It doesn’t look as though there will be any lineup changes for the Comets, and the Marlies should have Travis Dermott, Kasperi Kapanen and Andreas Johnsson in the lineup now that the Leafs are out of the NHL playoffs.
