Gamethread #42: Canucks vs Devils

New, comments

Let the second half of the season begin!

NHL: Vancouver Canucks at New Jersey Devils Ed Mulholland-USA TODAY Sports

Nov 25th, 2014 was the last time the Canucks beat the Devils. Ryan Miller out-dueled Cory Schneider in that game. My how time and goalies have changed.

The Canucks continue this 6 game road trip after beating both Alberta teams. (Suck it Alberta). Sven Baertschi returned last game and looked pretty good. The second PP unit did not, as it allowed two shorthanded goals. Let’s hope that some adjustments by Travis Green fixed that. Jacob Markstrom has been standing on his head in December with an 8-1 record. That probably means Anders Nilsson will get the start.

The Devils have Taylor Hall, who was the league MVP last year. I never liked Taylor Hall. He was lackadaisical as an Oiler and I still recall the dirty hit on Philip Larsen two years ago. There will be no MVP for him this year, but he makes this team very dangerous.

Coming out of NJ with a win will continue the momentum for this young team. And with those wins half of the Canucks fanbase keeps hoping for a playoff contender and the other half hope for a full collapse.

Go Coconuts Go! Have a safe and Happy New Year everyone!
