Here’s something real to discuss, a preseason game lineup!

Given that the team is heading to China this week it should be expected that the Canucks would ice a team that wouldn’t exactly excite most, but it will be our first real look at many players trying to make an impression with the Canucks brass.

For anyone who doesn’t wish to crane their neck to see the lineup, it looks like this:

Forwards

Scottie Upshall - Bo Horvat - Nikolay Goldobin

Sven Baertschi - Alex Burmistrov - Brock Boeser

Reid Boucher - Markus Granlund - Derek Dorsett

Carter Bancks - Ryan White - Jake Virtanen

Defense

Michael Del Zotto - Erik Gudbranson

Philip Holm - Alex Biega

Andrey Pedan - Troy Stecher

Guillaume Brisebois - Evan McEneny

Goaltenders

Jacob Markstrom

Anders Nilsson

Some interesting choices up front for the first game. The triple B line looks intriguing, as does Horvat with Goldobin and Upshall (PTO). Seems like the coaches really want to see how the 4th line candidates show themselves with Dorsett, Virtanen and White (PTO) all taking bottom 6 roles on Saturday.

On Defense, we see one potential regular season pairing (Del Zotto-Gudbranson), with Both Alex Biega and Troy Stecher being injected into the lineup to stabilize the second and third pairings.

Goaltending is a bit of a surprise having the Swedish tandem on the ice instead of having one of the young fellas backing up a veteran. Expect Bachman and Demko to suit up very soon for the Orcas.
