ANAHEIM 4 EDMONTON 3 2OT (Ducks lead 3-2)
The Edmonton Oilers looked set to head home for an elimination game on Sunday with a comfortable lead late in the 3rd period. And that's when they discovered why they say 3-0 is the worst lead in hockey. The Anaheim Ducks scored a ridiculous 3 goals in 3 minutes with the goalie pulled, the last one coming with a ton of controversy, though the game was filled with it again.
While it sure looked like Ryan Kesler was pulling on Cam Talbot's pads while on his hands and knees in the crease...
it's hard for the Oilers to get upset considering the 2 blown calls that were missed earlier that directly lead to the 3-0 goal by Drake Caggiula. Corey Perry was high-sticked in the mouth by Patrick Maroon, and a Ducks player had his stick yanked out of his hands in the Oilers zone, setting up the 4 on 1 play that Caggiula scored on.
Kinda fitting I guess that Perry would get the OT winner, and now just a week after Vegas declared the Oilers the new favorites to win the Cup, they are one game from being bounced out of the race.
ST LOUIS 2 NASHVILLE 1 (Predators lead 3-2)
Dmitrij Jaskin, inserted into the lineup after an injury to Alexander Steen, scored a huge goal, and they got the game winner from Jaden Schwartz as the St Louis Blues staved off elimination at home, defeating the Nashville Predators 2-1. The Preds will now try to close things out at home on Sunday.
The Sens are hoping that a change of scenery will shake them back to life after dropping both games at MSG against the Rangers. The good news for the Sens is that Erik Karlsson is good to go for Game 5, and they're going to need him to be on top of his game to handle a Rangers team that really dominated them in the last couple outings. They also need Craig Anderson to be better, and need players not named Jean-Gabriel Pageau or Bobby Ryan to step up and provide some offense.
Sidney Crosby is a game time decision, and that obviously will be a huge factor in whether or not the Capitals can force a Game 6 and 7 and not fizzle out once again in the post season. The Caps are likely going to be double shifting Alex Ovechkin, putting him on the 3rd line as well as his regular line and PP duty to try and get the Caps offense kickstarted. Connor Sheary could also be cleared to play, after both he and Crosby suffered concussions in Game 3.
GAME DAY BATTLE HYMN
Today we've got some Black Sachbak, a crossover thrash band from Isreal. I got this cd in this month's Metalhead Box, and I am diggin' it. Here's 'Capitalist Zombies' from the album 'No Pay No Gain'.
