After a thrilling come from behind victory on home ice in Game 6, the Ottawa Senators are looking to keep this improbable playoff run going with a victory over the Pittsburgh Penguins tonight in Game 7. The Sens are beaten and battered, facing a Penguins team that could get some key injured players back, have Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin, and a ton of experience with Game 7's. Oh, and Ottawa is 0-5 in Game 7's in their history.
Right now, the Sens aren't focused on any of this (save for dealing with Crosby and Malkin), preferring to look at it like it's a once in a lifetime opportunity. As Craig Andrerson said to NHL.com, "You never know when it's going to happen again," Anderson, 36, said Wednesday. "As a young player, you always think, 'There's always next year.' When you get to be a guy my age, you run out of next years. You make the most of your moments and if it's in your cards to be one of the select few to be able to be in the opportunity we're in, it's definitely an honor."
Forget the attendance issues. Forget the media lobbying for penalties. This is what every kid dreams of growing up, playing in a Game 7 for the right to play in the Stanley Cup Finals.
