Yeah, it’s gonna be freakin’ cold today as for the first time in WJC history the game moves outdoors with the host Americans taking on their arch-rivals, Canada. All things pointed to this being a battle of undefeated teams, but typical of the Americans always trying to rewrite the narrative, they decided to go out and lose to the same Slovakian team that Canada had dispatched rather thoroughly the night before by a 6-0 score.
That’s not to say that this game is going to be a cakewalk for the boys in red. This US team is packed with talent, and they are the defending champs after all. But they aren’t going to be able to pull off a victory today, and there’s a simple reason for that. They’ve already cursed themselves.
Let's go Bills, let's go AMURICAAAAA https://t.co/In58EGAKLK— RMNB (@russianmachine) December 29, 2017
That’s right. Someone decided that it would be a good idea for them to go out in this game in front of thousands, and millions watching on tv, to wear the uniform of a team with a worse record in their sport’s championships than the Vancouver Canucks. Yeah, those are Buffalo Bills inspired jerseys. The Buffalo Bills who lost 4 straight Super Bowl appearances. Doesn’t that just inspire greatness?
After a shutout performance from Colton Point against Slovakia, Canada will go back to Carter Hart against the Americans. Hart gave up 2 in the win on Tuesday over Finland. Kale Clague and Dante Fabbro, both dinged up in the game Wednesday should be good to go for this one.
Canucks fans will be watching Jonah Gadjovich in this one to see if he can build on his Player of the Game performance against the Slovaks. A surprise to some that he made the team, the Canucks prospect is certainly making the most of this opportunity.
They’re expecting the temperature to be around -8 at game time, which is better than it has been of late in this neck of the woods (I’m just under 2 hours from Buffalo). So do what you have to do so you can watch this game, it’s always must see tv.
