THE ORBIT: Cederholm sent to K-Wings

New, comments

The Canucks move the Swedish Dman down to the ECHL to get some playing time.

Anton Cederholm

Slow news day, but that doesn’t mean there’s no news. As the Comets prepare for a couple games this weekend against Rochester and Syracuse, they have sent Defenceman Anton Cederholm to the Canucks ECHL affiliate the Kalamazoo Wings.

Cederholm was a 5th round pick of the Canucks in 2013, and spent last season between the Swedish Elite League and the Allsvenskan. He did not dress for either game in Toronto this past weekend, and with the glut of players still in the lineup in Utica, this should allow Cederholm to get some playing time.

Cederholm is no stranger to the K-Wings. He played 69 games in Kalamazoo in 2015-16, picking up 3 goals and 14 assists, and was voted the team’s most improved player, and leader in plus/minus with a +18 rating.

  • Speaking of the K-Wings, they kick their season off Saturday as they head to Cincinnati to take on the Cyclones. They played their 2nd preseason contest Monday, a 4-1 loss to the Fort Wayne Komets. They were in Toledo Saturday, dropping a close 2-1 game to the Walleye. We’ll have info in our Utica/Syracuse game thread if you want to keep tabs on this game.
