The Canucks have signed three to professional tryout contracts as training camp gets closer. Article
The first has a familiar name....Ruutu. But this time it's the younger brother Tuomo is getting the chance to wear a Canucks jersey instead of his old brother Jarkko. Ruutu spent most of his career with Carolina, but spent the last year with the Devils.

The 28 year old Sheppard has close to 400 games experience.

And Kevin Carr has never touched the ice during an NHL game.....and probably never will.

Ruutu and Sheppard are both there to push the youngsters like Gaunce and Virtanen. Realistically both players are 4th options at this point of their career. Carr would be insurance for the insurance. He may get a shot at sticking with Utica if he impresses at camp.
There are still some free agents out there with more of a chance to make the roster...Versteeg...but the cap makes signing him almost an impossibility. Maybe we can invite Owen Nolan back a second go-around.
