Go Sell Crazy Somewhere Else, We're All Stocked Up Here: Coyotes @ Canucks

T-minus 17 games to go...

Vancouver returns to Rogers where they sport an 11-16-5 record, second worst in the NHL. Who is the only sad sack of souls worse in front of their faithful than your Canucks? That would be the organization at the top of this list.

The last game against the Kings was like leading lambs to the slaughter. It's no one's fault really; with Hank, Hansen, Edler, Tanev and Sutter on the shelf that's $22,250,000 - or about 35% of their entire cap - not taking the ice.
Thankfully the Coyotes have six guys on the shelf (Chipchura, Ekman-Larsson, Lindback, Michalek, Smith and Vitale) which amounts to 17,233,332, or 28% of their cap.
Ah, but let's not forget Chris Pronger's buried contract over there in the desert shall we? That brings their total to $22,174,761 or 36% of their cap not doing anything to help them compete.
Hooray! Vancouver wins something. Suck it haters.

One Question

Vancouver's power play has been nothing special this season, but came alive against San Jose's 22nd ranked PK (79.5%). Then the 15th ranked Kings (81.1%) came along two nights ago and shut that PP down completely. Now they get an injured Arizona squad who sits 26th on the PK (77.5%). So which direction are the kids headed tonight?

One Observation

While we're at it, Vancouver's FO% has also been nothing special this season (46.9%, 29th in the league). Conversely Arizona's 53.8% is second best in the league. Vermette sports a nifty 54.9% from the dot, Hank has 45.2%. Gaunce is 100% through, so let's bask in that small sample size and dream of the bright future.

Fearless Prediction

Water is wet and horrible. But if you freeze it you get ice which is pretty important for a sport played on ice skates, much like the game you'll see tonight: a bunch of guys skating around on the ice playing for nothing in general and, with those parameters set in their favor, Vancouver gets the win. In regulation. At home. Largely because Markstrom is amazing.

3-1 Canucks.

And my skull fractures accordingly.
