Maybe the Canucks' moms should go to all of their games. It really was the kid show in Colorado last night.
Jacob Markstrom is 5-0-1 in his last 6 and has won 8 of his last 11. So, not to knock Ryan Miller, but maybe Markstrom has been outplaying Miller a bit and the team plays better in front of him. So, if the Canucks want to go for that playoff spot then why not ride the hot goalie and keep starting Markstrom?
Sven Baertschi scored again, making his season total 10. For a guy that I had given up on back in November-December when he went 13 straight games without a point, he then went on a 3-game point streak where he scored 3 goals and 1 assists. 2 games after that he went on another 3 game point streak where he scored 2 goals and 2 assists. He has 3 goals and 1 assist in his last 7 games. He's definitely not fading into oblivion.
Bo Horvat just matched last season's point output in 15 less games, and after a slow start to the season as well. He has 1 goal and 1 assist in October and 2 assists in 13 games in December. He now has 8 goals and 7 assists in his last 15 games. Beautiful.
No points for Daniel Sedin in his last 3 games (m'eh) and no points for Henrik Sedin in his last 5 games. Yikes.
Radim Vrbata has 1 assists in his last 8 games. Boo this man!
Alexandre Burrows is not the same as he used to be. However, after his abysmal 1 assist in 24 games from November 22 - January 17, he now has 2 goals and 2 assists in his last 7 games. People crapped all over me when I said Burrows would not be a very productive player on the scoresheet without the Sedins. Well, how are you liking those 7 goals and 9 assists in 51 games this season?
Just another sad little stat to throw your way:
Vancouver defencemen have a combined 3 goals (Hutton, Sbisa and Bartkowski) since January 1. 3 goals. I could make it look even more bleak than that if I dug deeper. We need to find an offensive defenceman.
Anyway, why am I being a grinch after a win? All hail the kids! And that includes Sbisa's sick rush and passing play on Horvat's goal. Oh my!
