Gamethread: Vancouver @ Edmonton — A Brutal Year Finally Ends

Let’s see if Vancouver can build on their last two games to take out Edmonton at home tonight.

NHL: Preseason-Vancouver Canucks at Edmonton Oilers Perry Nelson-USA TODAY Sports

When: 7 p.m. Rogers Place, Edmonton, Alta.

Where to Watch: CBC, Sportsnet Pacific, West, East & Ontario, NHL.com

Where to Listen: TSN 1040

SB Nation Game Hub

Opposition blog: The Copper and the Blue (shouldn’t it be renamed The Orange and the Blue, since they are no longer using the 1996 redesign?)

Money Line: EDM -220 to -245

Spare a thought for your poor Vancouver Canucks tonight. Imagine if you had a job where your employer forced you to spend New Year’s Eve in the worst city in Canada. I’ll bet you’d be dusting off your resume in no time.

Vancouver hits Edmonton after two resilient home wins against divisional opponents this week. Playoffs or no, I’ll be glad if they play competitively throughout the rest of the year.

Jacob Markstrom gets the start tonight. Per Scouting the Refs, tonight's referees are Kelly Sutherland and TJ Luxmore. Ryan Gibbons and Brandon Gawryletz will work the lines.

Have a safe and happy New Year’s Eve, everyone. 2016 was an enormous piece of poo. Let’s hope 2017 doesn’t become the triple turd burger it looks like it could well become.
