When the Canucks gave thanks for Bo, Sven and Burr...

Well that was something, wasn’t it? A fairly routine regulation win, four goals with nothing from the Sedins. It’s like everything we were promised when Linden and Benning came into power.

Let’s take a look back at the reaction to last night’s game, and to other happenings around the league:

CANUCKS 4-1 QUEBEC

  • Game at a Glance? Don’t mind if I do, even if I did read it as ‘Game at a Gaunce’. It really is catching.
  • Joseph LaBate made his NHL debut last night. This is a great hockey tradition:
  • Our SB Nation cousins at Five for Howling were less than happy with the result. Sorry guys, we like some of your team, but until Hanzal and Doan are gone, we’re going to be smug about this. [Five for Howling]
  • NHL.com’s game recap is here. Chaput winning 10 of 14 on the dot sounds nice. [NHL]
  • A feel-good review from IMac. [Province]
  • Canucks scoring leaders here, lead by Bo and Dank. Bo’s on course for a 28 goal season as we stand. [Canucks]
  • All good things must come to an end: Daniel’s 8-game point streak was snapped, as was Henrik’s 6 game streak and Sutter’s 5 game streak. We didn’t need it guys, save your scoring for other games. [No link, just remember to reset your ‘Sedins are declining’ counter. I give it two games.]

LESS IMPORTANT NEWS

  • TSN have different views to me on who to protect. I’d be trading Hansen at the deadline and keeping Baertschi. Maybe that’s why I’m an armchair GM. This will be slim pickings for Vegas though. [TSN]
  • Blame me. I pointed out yesterday that Auston Matthews hadn’t scored in 13 games. He’s now scored 2 more. Y U NO SCORE, LUCA? [The Score]
  • Get used to this name: Ryan Poehling is one of the top draft picks next summer. [NHL]
  • Who has the most hat-tricks out of all active players? It was Jaromir Jagr, until Alex Ovechkin passed him last night. He’s now a mere 33 from equalling Wayne Gretzky’s 50 career hat-tricks. Which was about 100 lower than I expected. [The Score]
  • Jonathan Toews may be injured. Miniature violins at the ready in 3...2...1...

Question of the day: With Bo Horvat now tied for the team’s scoring lead, who do you think will end the season atop our scoring pile?
