Kindred Spirits: Canucks @ Washington

New, comments

These two teams are separated by an age of just 4 years, but they may as well have been expansion twins.

Lack of a cup? Check. Superstar(s) who despite obvious talent receive nothing but scorn and insults from opposing fans and media alike? Check. There's a lot of similarities between the Washington Capitals and our Vancouver Canucks, but their performances this season isn't one of them.

The Caps are the best team in the NHL, and full value for it. Getting a Vezina-worthy season from Braden Holtby, and another stellar year from Alex Ovechkin are just two of the reasons that this Capitals team may be one of the best bets to take it all this year, and you know what? I'm really okay with that. There's not too many teams out there I am comfortable with seeing hoist the Cup before the Canucks, but the Caps are one of them. They have some serious firepower, play a strong defensive game, and are fun to watch.
