Hey gang! It's 4:30 here in Cowtown which is an ungodly time to get up, but given that there's hockey on the other side of the mountains I'm willing to sacrifice some sleep!
I could have slept for an extra 45 minutes, but you know Murphy's law: if something can go wrong it will... My F$&#ing printer ran out of ink as I was printing tickets just after Staples closed last night. Do you think Walmart carries the ink for my printer?!? OF COURSE NOT! The solution: get up earlier than scheduled and stop by work to print off the remainder of the tickets... Ah well it's my opening Chef's birthday today, it'll be good to pop in and wish him a great day!
Alright friends, I'm off to Timmy's!
UPDATE #1 (8:45 AM)
We've made some miles already! Quick pit stop in Golden, BC (which should more accurately be called 'Cloudsville' as we are in some pretty thick fog right now) to update everyone on the ride so far.
I opted not to get Timmy's because I went into work and made an Americano with a triple shot of espresso... I can see through time now!
The real excitement this morning has been the wildlife. Here's the tally:
Elk eating rocks roadside: 1
Grizzly Bears on railroad tracks: 1
RCMP doing their jobs: 1
Construction Zones preventing me from getting places faster: 2
Bighorn Sheep: 0 (they must have forgotten to set their alarm clocks this morning)
Unfortunately we haven't been able to capture any of these animals in their nature environment, so if you want to see what they look like, I hear that google has some great images... We'll try to do better moving forward!
UPDATE #2 (1:30 BC time)
I found Penticton! Pretty proud of myself, it's been a long day but the hard part is over. It's almost time to watch hockey! The rink looks like a mini-Rog with the glorious Blue and Green banners displayed all over the SOEC property.
Let's update the wildlife Big Board!
Elk eating rocks roadside: 1
Grizzly Bears on railroad tracks: 1
RCMP doing their jobs: 1
Construction Zones preventing me from getting places faster: 10; That's too many, I understand that summer is short and winter is not a good time to fix roads but C'MON!
Bighorn Sheep: 0 (they must have forgotten to set their alarm clocks this morning)
Random Chickens: 3 Probably from a nearby farm, but they were in the ditch and I counted them!
