The Vancouver Canucks officially announced the signing of Adam Cracknell to a two-way contract today. As per the press release from Canucks.com:
While the move was almost certainly only to provide depth on the wings for the Utica Comets this season, the big-bodied forward does have limited NHL experience, and could provide the Canucks with an additional option in case of injury.
This seems to lend further credence to the thinking that Utica will strive to be a Calder Cup contender again this season, with veteran players surrounding and providing for the Canucks rookies making their AHL debuts this year, such as Cole Cassels, Dane Fox, Ben Hutton and Jordan Subban, as well as 2nd-year forwards Brendan Gaunce and Hunter Shinkaruk.
