PLAYOFF GAME DAY & IIHF SUPER AWESOME OPEN THREAD May 4/15

Your stupid Star Wars jokes May 4th me to punch you in the face, so shut up already. The real news is Team Canada takes on the Czechs in the biggest game of the World Championships so far...

I was hoping to have a confirmation of the time that Ron MacLean's hit piece look at Brandon Prust will be airing, but I'm not sure there's even gonna be one. It doesn't take much of an effort to see that the outrage about Prust daring to speak out about an official who was basically acting like a) at best, a player or b) the more accurate answer, your average hockey fan on Twitter, pales in comparison to the time that Alex Burrows called out that lying sack of crap Stephane Auger. Make what you will of that...

So where are we? The Habs have zero discipline, and once you break down Carey Price, there's not a lot there. Big shock, right? Montreal's screwed. Same thing in Minnesota, there ain't any chance that the Wild come back in this series. Chicago's too strong and that makes me throw up in my mouth. Speaking of things that induce vomit, I still see tons of Canucks fans out there thinking that the right thing to do is cheer hockey's Benedict Arnold on to beat the Flames instead of having the courage to stand up and say "You know what? Fuck both of these teams!" and walk away from it all. My hope for the future dimmed slightly as the Canucks played right into the hands of the Flames in that series, but seeing that they're not talking with Brad Richardson and Jordan Subban makes me think we have some Oilers-like years ahead of us. It's gonna get a lot worse before it gets better...

Just one game tonight, as the Caps look to break the deadlocked series on home ice against the Rangers. But in the game you should actually give a crap about, Team Canada is playing the Czech Republic this afternoon. The Canadians got a shutout from Martin Jones and a hat trick from Taylor Hall as they cruised to a 10-0 win yesterday over the Germans. Cody Eakin had two goals in that game as well. The Canadians will look to move their record to 3-0, while the Czechs will look to avoid picking up their 2nd loss of the tournament, having already fallen to Sweden. There's also a bit of an upset happening right now as the US is about 4 minutes away from defeating the Russians, leading 3-1.
