He's on fire! Shawn Matthias has 5 goals in his last 4 games. This after 1 goal and 2 assists in his previous 17 games. Matthias' best season in the NHL came in 2011-12 with the Florida Panthers, when he scored 10 goals and 24 points in 79 games. Well, he now has 13 goals and 20 points in 52 games with the Canucks this season. On pace for a career year, and becomes an unrestricted free agent this summer. Matthias is currently making $1.850 million per season.
Matthias works so damned hard all the time that he has earned his current goal streak. The guy is about 6'4" and 220 pounds and plays like it. He drives to the net. My current fave Canuck. Has been all season actually. I like the physical players that play like they give a shit. Speaking of that, good to see the chemistry between Matthias and Zack Kassian. If Kassian plays with the tenacity that Matthias has, he will become a solid power forward in this League.
