Game Day Morning Coffee- Nov 18/15

They've lost to good teams. They've lost to bad teams. This road trip has been a flat-out disaster for the Canucks. The question has become not "Will they win?" but "How are they gonna lose this one?"

There's much talk of how the Canucks played well, for the most part, in Montreal the other night, and look to finish the road trip on a positive note tonight in Winnipeg against the Jets. Waiting for them is a Jets team that's lost 5 straight and the way the Canucks have been performing on this road trip, you may as well just take a sharpie and write "SLUMPBUSTERS" on the fronts of their jerseys.

Alex Burrows has rejoined the team, and that means Hunter Shinkaruk is back to Utica. The team has called up Alexandre Grenier instead, which could be related to Radim Vrbata not being on the ice for the morning skate at the MTS Center. They'll go back to Ryan Miller tonight after seeing him get a night off against Montreal, and quite frankly they need him to look more like the goalie we saw at the start of the season not just to get out of tonight with two points, but moving forward as they have a weekend doubleheader against Chicago and New Jersey at home.

The Jets struggles this year really mirror the Canucks in a number of ways: They're playing with 3 rookies in the lineup, and aren't getting the kind of goaltending they need to succeed. Backup Michael Hutchison has started back to back games for the Jets as Ondrej Pavalec's numbers spiral downward, could this indicate the beginning of the end for Pavalec in Winnipeg?

GAME DAY BATTLE HYMN

Old-school Swedish metallers ENFORCER for you today, with a track off their most recent disc 'From Beyond'. They're hitting Vancouver in January with Warbringer, Exmortus and Cauldron, which is a pretty solid lineup of thrashy goodness, so to get you ready for that, and the game tonight, here's 'Undying Evil'.
