Game Day Morning Coffee- Oct 12/15

It's Thanksgiving, and I will be thankful if the Canucks can get a split in the manner they did in their first two games against Calgary. Anaheim tonight and LA tomorrow, let's do this!

The first trip to California is on, and while it's odd they won't play San Jose til next year or something after facing them 37 times in the preseason, tonight's match is big as they meet up with old friend Kevin Bieksa for the first time tonight in Anaheim. I suppose the good thing about this trade is that two games in, I haven't seen anyone bemoaning the loss of Bieksa on the back end. The bad news is, we're likely going to see just why other teams fans disliked him so much. Spoiler alert: he's gonna get all up in Daniel's grill tonight. Well, let's get to the links, shall we?

FRESH HOT LINKS

- Both Ryan Miller and Alex Edler missed practice yesterday, but should be good to go tonight...

- JPat on seeing that guy in those ugly, ugly uniforms

- Our old pal The Stanchion with a shocking expose on Daniel Sedin's turn to the darkside

- While it won't be a surprise if Richard Bachman gets the start tomorrow against the Kings, Jacob Markstrom is healing much faster than they thought and should return soon

- The prognosis on Chris Higgins is not as good, however

AROUND THE LEAGUE

- A couple morning games (love holiday hockey, don't you?) as Tampa takes on Boston and the Jets are in Brooklyn to take on the Sharks Islanders

- Columbus' Alex Wennberg is out with a concussion after a late hit by the Rangers' Chris Kreider

- The Flyers will be without Steve Mason for their home opener. Our thoughts are with him as he deals with a private family matter

- The Bruins are looking to trade Chara AND Marchand? Oh, wait... It's just Haggerty again.

GAME DAY BATTLE HYMN

While we in Canada celebrate Thanksgiving, in America it's Columbus Day. You remember Columbus, right? "Discovered" America. What a great guy he was...

In honour of him, here's some Resistant Culture with 'Beneath The Concrete', and check out the great metal blog Toilet Ov Hell, who have a bunch of native metal acts featured today.
