MY 2 CENTS

When the Canucks went into the summer of 2010, Willie Mitchell was an unrestricted free agent, out with a concussion suffered at the hands of one Evgeny Malkin on January 16. Bastard. On July 1 the Canucks spent almost $9 million on free agents Keith Ballard and Dan Hamhuis, leaving Big Willie out of the picture. The LA Kings came knocking and Mitchell won 2 Stanley Cups with those buttheads. Mitchell is one of my fave all-time Canucks. I wish he was still here. Just a rock-steady and gritty and passionate player who played mean. Love it.

It's not that I don't like Ryan Miller. I just REALLY like Roberto Luongo. Ignoring all the reasons why he left (he can say what he wants to the media but he wanted out for a long time in Van), the contrast between Miller and Luongo is significant.

Lou was entertaining as hell, much like his hero Grant Fuhr. His personality was entertaining:

The Canucks never had a better goalie in their crease and it was just a matter of time before they botched it and/or he goalie wanted out. Luongo was the biggest superstar this team had on its roster since Pavel Bure. He holds almost all of the team's franchise goaltender records. Ryan Miller will not accomplish this, and thank god Ryan Miller will not be named team captain.

I do however like peace and quiet surrounding the goaltenders this season. Miller is the undisputed #1. He is quieter in front of cameras and doesn't allow the media a lot of time and attention. Can't say I blame him one bit. His playing style is so much more simplified with that new age style of percentage play goaltending that he makes it look easy and boring even. I personally liked Luongo's more aggressive style better. He was far more reactionary. He made you get out of your seat. Was it less effective? Nope. Only circumstantially.

Anyway, it is what it is. Willie and Lou play for the Panthers and the Panthers are on the rise. Do I miss them in Canucks unis? HELL YES.

This is entertainment:

However,

GO CANUCKS GO! On this night I wanna see sad Luongo and Mitchell faces. All loyalties are DEAD! Thanks for the memories and all that but tonight I want your metaphoric heads on my metaphoric platter. We have a dance we wanna go to in April now politely piss off!
