Summertime Canucks Links

There is not any groundbreaking news on the Canucks' front lately and that is to be expected as players enjoy their summers before camp and the preseason starts. However, I did find some interesting links via Twitter tonight that I thought I'd share with you, especially the peeps who don't use Twitter.

First of all:

Jordan Subban, like his brother PK, has a great sense of humor. Check out this footage of him mic'd up during the Prospects Camp:

OHL super dude and Canucks prospect is scared of birds:

Too funny. Hey Dane, you're not scared of Ducks are you?

EA Sports' NHL 15 is looking beautiful. Check this out:

Must be PS4 graphics right? Dammit! I still have a PS3 with no regrets. I don't even own NHL '14. Still stuck on NHL '13 because I put so much effort into creating legend Canucks and Leafs teams. Plus, I'm a cheap Dutchman. PS4 is still over $400 right? Screw that! Anyway, check out the features of NHL 15 here.

Best response to that tweet:

Speaking of "screw that":

Makes me sick with that phoney marketing. Change is here! Ya, suck it! (As I wipe my tears with my Luongo Canucks jersey. F***!!!)

How about an awkward moment between Frank Corrado and a Habs fan at the Hockey Hall Of Fame in Toronto:

Jesus saves, but David Booth picks up the rebound and scores:

Only thing missing in that pic is a bear head and a carcass, am I right? has been doing great work getting to know some Canuck players that we don't know much about. How about Brad Richardson?

Weird how I don't even notice Brad in those photos. I wonder why...

Awesome work by CDC's Derek Jory. He also visited Shawn Matthias recently. Check that out here. I am personally stoked about Matthias. I think we are going to see great things from him this season. He is fearless.

In case you missed it, Cory Schneider was on the Team 1040 a few days ago to talk Devils and Canucks. Check that out here. Schneids is a classy guy. There's no shit-talking from him.

Bo Horvat is trimming down his weight in order to improve his speed. (

Did you miss Jason Garrison talking about his trade to Tampa? Well here is what he said:

It's kind of sad, really, seeing a homtown guy traded away. I was hoping he'd be the next Sami Salo for the Canucks. Maybe he'll be the next Salo in Tampa! Oh wait...

Bruce Dowbiggin, a columnist for the Calgary Herald and Globe and Mail and others, has written a book called: Ice Storm: The Rise and Fall of the Greatest Vancouver Canucks Team Ever. This will likely be a good read for anybody who isn't a Canucks fan because we know the Canucks' shit story from 2011 til now. Unless it has some dirt in it, like Mike Gillis banging a prostitute or Burrows killing Kesler's cat, I am not interested.

Meanwhile, the most hardcore Canucks fans feel like this:

While I feel you pain, this is summertime. There are so many excellent things to do outdoors right what Booth is doing (above).

From CBS

When the Detroit Red Wings reportedly struck out on target after target during the early days of free agency, it signaled a few things. The first is that Detroit is no longer the free-agent haven it once was as the salary cap has evened the playing field, but as others speculated, it might be who the head coach is that is to blame for certain players shying away.

Red Wings coach Mike Babcock is known for being a brilliant coach, but he's also known for his intense, hard-nosed approach that can rub some players the wrong way. During a radio interview with Detroit Sports 105.1 on Thursday, Babcock addressed those rumors and his future with the club quite candidly and bluntly:

"If you don't want to be coached, don't come here," Babcock told hosts Ryan and Rico. "If you want to be pushed to be the best that you can be, that's what we do here. The proof is in the pudding.

"Am I warm and cuddly every day? I am with my family.

"I think I care a lot about my players. When you care about people, you make them do it right. When you don't and there's lots of coaches that don't, then their teams don't do it right and they don't have success.

"We just have the hard meetings. We get it out front. Does it piss people off once in a while? Absolutely. But it also leads to behavioral changes and getting things better. So you know what, I'm not apologizing for that stuff at all."

That's right, Mike. Don't apologize at all! It's sickening to see one of the best coaches of the modern era come under scrutiny like this. Then Babs throws stones at the media and blogosphere:

"I think it's easy to stand on the sidelines and second-guess everything all the time and I think that's what you get paid to do and the more controversy you can create in the media, the more they like you and the more bloggers we have, the more controversy we have, but that's all part of the sport," he said. "What I've found is if the people in the hockey department make the decisions, we're employed. When we start looking for answers in the media, then we'll be in the media soon."

I love this guy!

Hands up though...who likes seeing the Red Wings suffer? (raises hand). Screw Detroit.

Tyler Seguin is a ballsy guy...

That don't impress me much. That golfer clearly is not a hack. Now had that been me driving, I would have left a divot.

Finally, I am curious as to what YOUR opinion is of Nashville signing both Derek Roy and Mike Ribeiro, especially this late in the offseason. Personally, I don't give a shit about Ribeiro's personal issues, which likely led to him being signed so late after July 1. I think these were 2 excellent signings by the Predators to really solidify their center position.
