Alright here we go: 9 games left for the Canucks. 7 of those games in a row against teams that are currently in a playoff spot and the final 2 against Edmonton and Calgary. The Canucks are going to have to win every single game to get 94 points, which is only 12 more points than the 8th place Coyotes currently have. Phoenix will have to sag below 500 hockey. After they beat on Pittsburgh tonight it's seeming quite unlikely that the Dogs are gonna give up that 8th spot.
If Pittsburgh would have outright beat the Coyotes tonight and the Canucks pulled a win out in Minny on Wednesday night, Van would have been only 2 points out, giving us all sorts of hope and all that happy shit. It could be worse. It could be the Leafs...
Henrik Sedin (out 2 weeks-ish), Alex Burrows how long does it take a lacerated thumb to heal?), Chris Tanev (done for the season, Mike Santorelli (done for the season), I think Roy Orbison said it best:
YOU MADE MY SHITLIST
I think the list has gone and done dried up. Oh wait...
-Daniel Sedin: 0 points in his last 13 games, 1 assist in his last 18 games, and no goals in 23 games. Yea, unacceptable!
-Chris Higgins: 0 points in his last 4. This is what Higgy does. Then he lights it up. Rinse and repeat.
-Ryan Kesler: 1 goal and 0 assists in his last 7.
-Zac Dalpe: 1 goal and 0 assists in his last 18 games. Gets NO ice time. We know he has a super shot, but is stuck on line 4.
-Jason Garrison: 0 points in 5 games.
-Ryan Stanton: 0 goals and 1 assist 14 games. Does have 3 goals against his own team though! Just kidding, buddy!
-Zack Kassian: 4 assists last game
-Shawn Matthias: 1 goal and 2 assists last game
-Brad Richardson: 1 goal and 1 assist last game
KNOW YOUR ENEMY
-Minnesota may be 2-0 against the Canucks this season, but both wins came in shootouts.
-Dany Heatley sucks.
-Injured for the Wild: Harding, Backstrom, Ballard, Stoner, Zucker.
-23-8-5 on home ice. Concerning. 1-1-3 in their last 5 home games. So there's a chance?
-A whole bunch of advanced Wild stats at Hockey Wilderness here, and in summary:
the 2014 Minnesota Wild have been a mediocre puck possession team that lacks somewhat in shooting luck but has benefited from extraordinary goaltending. They're bad at generating shots but great at suppressing them. Their special teams are unimpressive.
-The Wild employ spaceman Ilya Bryzgalov. He is 2-0-2 in 4 games with Minny. The other goalie Darcy Kuemper is 1-3-2 in his last 6 starts
The last meeting between these teams:
