Santorelli Out 5-6 Months, Bieksa Injured Too

Brad Penner-USA TODAY Sports

One thing after another in CanuckLand.

Mike Santorelli required shoulder surgery. Yea, so much for that "bruised" shoulder. He will miss the remainder of the season. That's a tough loss given his performance this season. This won't save the Canucks a lot of cap space leading up to the trade deadline. Santorelli is making $550,000 this season, and becomes an unrestricted free agent in the summer.

I don't know what happened to Kevin Bieksa versus Chicago, but he is going to miss at least the next 5 games with an undisclosed injury. A shot block perhaps? He is not traveling with the team on the road trip leading to the Olympic Break. So he's going to get a lot of time off. Paging Mr. Corrado...He was called up earlier today.

Mike Sullivan said today that he is hopeful that Henrik Sedin (ribs) will return to the lineup sometime during this road trip.

Let's see which players step and fill the gaps successfully. With great injuries comes great opportunity. The lines at practice today, via The Province:

Higgins-Kesler-Burrows

Dsedin-Schroeder-Kassian

Booth-Richardson-Hansen

Weise/Sestito-Lain-Dalpe

Defence pairs were:

Hamhuis-Weber

Edler-Garrison

Stanton

Dank not on the top line? Good! Also good to see Chris Higgins get that top line spot because he has earned it.
