UPDATE: Prospal would rather retire than join the Canucks. LINK
Well, Vaclav (Vinnie) Prospal will sign a 25-game professional tryout deal with the Utica Comets where reports say that he will likely play 10 games or so and the Canucks can decide from there if they want to sign the unrestricted free agent. As the Globe And Mail points out, Prospal has played 7 seasons for John Tortorella: 5 in Tampa Bay and 2 with the Rangers. The tryout deal with Utica means Prospal can still sign with any NHL team.
Prospal will turn 39 on February 17. Laurence Gilman today called him a utility player for the Canucks if he plays here. Top 6, bottom 6, he's versatile.
Sure, we need a Czech player too don't we?
Prospal's career stats:
Look at his stats with Columbus last season. Not bad at all for an aging guy. I wonder what besides age scared teams off from signing him. I recall good skating from him and super hands.
He is listed as a left winger. I swear he can play center as well. He is 6'2" and 198 pounds.
Let's go to the Tube:
Get to know Prospal:

He can score in the shootout:
I love the joy he shows after scoring.
Well then...since the current Canucks squad can't score worth a shit, why wait 8-10 games, Gillis?
I jest....kind of. Good luck, Vinnie.
As it states in 1 Kings 2:3...
And observe what the LORD your God requires: Walk in obedience to him, and keep his decrees and commands, his laws and regulations, as written in the Law of Moses. Do this so that you may Prospal in all you do and wherever you go (NIV)
