Preseason Teasers Revealed, Schedule Announcements Expected Soon

The NHL is expected to announce regular season schedules on Wednesday, providing the agreements on the Olympics are finalized in time. Some other news tidbits to tie us over until then.

Yep, it's starting.

Some of us have been wondering when the schedule could come out for the regular season and such. Well, there's the answer. has already revealed that the Rangers will be visiting the Canucks on September 26th for a preseason game, obviously playing up the Torts vs AV hype. The Bruins have also revealed their own preseason schedule, which features a game versus the Jets hosted by the city of Saskatoon. The Panthers have also released theirs, although we're not involved. (Keep in mind, the more teams that release their schedules early, the more we can piece ours together.)

We'll obviously keep you guys covered when (or if) the NHL reveals a ton of stuff tomorrow. Since the Sochi Olympics would probably cause a 2-week break in NHL action in February (like in 2010), the regular season schedule cannot be finalized until all the agreements are in place. As Russo mentioned, the schedule release will likely be accompanied by the names for the 4 new conferences. (Yeah, remember that? The Northwest Division is no more!)

A few other tidbits to carry us over until the bigger news breaks:

  • The NHLPA released all the arbitration dates. Dale Weise and the Canucks are scheduled for July 31st. (NHLPA)
  • The Jets have finalized deals with Patrice Cormier and Eric Tangradi. (Arctic Ice Hockey)
  • Ben Kuzma tweeted the following: "UFA centre Manny Malhotra admits he may have to accept a PTO and "prove myself again" as second-tier free agent market slows to a crawl." (Twitter)
  • The Canucks finished off their prospects camp last week. (Canucks Report, photo gallery)

Feel free to add more tidbits and links into the comments, we'll update this post (or make another story) when big stuff happens.
